Dead Heat by Patricia Briggs

From Goodreads

The Alpha and Omega novels transport readers into the realm of the werewolf, where Charles Cornick and Anna Latham embody opposite sides of the shifter personality. Now, a pleasure trip drops the couple into the middle of some bad supernatural business…

For once, mated werewolves Charles and Anna are not traveling because of Charles’s role as his father’s enforcer. This time, their trip to Arizona is purely personal, as Charles plans to buy Anna a horse for her birthday. Or at least it starts out that way...

Charles and Anna soon discover that a dangerous Fae being is on the loose, replacing human children with simulacrums. The Fae’s cold war with humanity is about to heat up—and Charles and Anna are in the cross fire.

My Review

Charles and Anna take a trip to see Charles old friend Joseph and to purchase Anna a new horse.  What they did find is Joseph is dying, the Fae have come out of hiding and Charles has to make a choice to turn a witch into a werewolf.

The Fae have been hiding for awhile so why all of sudden do they come back.  They are here and they are replacing human children with simulacrums.

Anna has also put pressure on Charles of having a child of their own.  But Anna being a shifter herself and changing every full moon she can not have a baby of her own.  So she wants to find a someone to carry the baby for her.

This book is full of action.  The same lovable characters that we find in the Alpha Omega series.
